Slake Own Hands For Dogs Step By Step Instructions

We offer you something special: sew up your own strap for a dog, which also serves as a vest! Below, step by step, with a photo of each stage, we consider the whole process of creating this beautiful and useful clothing and at the same time an accessory. This harness is quite simple to make, all you need to change is to only fit the pattern to the size of the dog.

On the back there are two ringlets to which you can attach the leash.

This design was inspired by the design of the shleyku pattern:

Vest-harness – one-piece, so that it looks more attractive, you can make the fringe with a fabric of a different color (oblique piping) or finishing tape. Very elegant can look contrasting colors or materials differing in texture.

It should be noted that the product is suitable only for small decorative dogs, which do not pull the leash too much on a walk and do not tear too much. The reason is simple: we propose to make this harness with the help of velcro, and from a strong jerk they can not stand it.

Training

The basis for this Harness served pillowcase, bought in Ikea. On the inner side, the rim and the central strip went gray faux suede.
Below is a template that needs to be prepared. The front side is gray.

We fold the fabric in half and cut out the pattern. Seam allowances have already been taken into account. Then unfold – and it remains only to sew. The rectangles on the pattern are the places where you need to sew a sticky tape.

Connect the stripes on the neck and chest of the dog, adjust to its size. If you want to make a warmer vest, you need to carve out two parts: from the main and lining fabrics. For summer or demi-season, thin cotton or linen will work, and for winter days – something more dense, it will be interesting to look fur.

How to cut

We fold in half the pattern of our harness and a piece of matter, we apply the pattern along the fold.
Prepare three identical parts: from the main, lining fabric and sealer, so that the finished product keeps its shape better

The photo shows how to properly fold the pattern, and what should be the result.

To sew a vest in two ways, with a fringe and without it. First, consider the option with a fringe.

Step-by-step instruction

Option 1

  1. Cut the blank strip, which will be held on the back of the harness, it will be attached to two ring for a leash. The width of the workpiece should correspond to their internal diameter. Fold as shown below, iron the folds.
  2. Cut a piece of adhesive material of the same size, attach it to the back side. Do not iron!
  3. Pass the strip through the two D-rings.
  4. Position the resulting element in the center of the outer layer as in the photo, iron it well.
  5. Arrange the cut pieces as follows: first, the lining face down, on top of it – the seal, on top – the main material face up, as in the figure. As a result, the base and lining will be turned to each other on the wrong side, and there will be a seal between them.
  6. Run the finishing tape along the contour, first sweep to fix, then stitch.
  7. Sew along the contour as well as around the D-rings, as shown in the photo.
  8. Sew velcro (better with your own hands, not on a typewriter) to the harness.

    Is done.

Option 2

If there is no desire to tinker with the finish, you can sew a waist-harness in another way. Repeat steps 1 through 4 above.

  1. Cut the blank strip, which will pass on the back, to it will be attached two ring for a leash. The width of the workpiece should correspond to their internal diameter. Fold as shown below, iron the folds.
  2. Cut a piece of adhesive material of the same size, attach it to the back side. Do not iron!
  3. Pass the lane through two D-rings.
  4. Position the resulting element in the center of the outer layer, as shown in the figure, iron it well.
  5. Attach the strip to the base, and also make the stitching around the D-rings, as shown in the photo.

  6. Put the lining on the base, front side to the front.
  7. Place a compactor on top of it, as shown in the photo.
  8. Sew the product along the edge, leaving a non-sewn hole through which you will twist.
  9. Turn the vest face out and stitch a hole on the typewriter or by hand.
  10. Stroke it, if you wish, you can make stitching.
  11. Sew Velcro.

You have just made the most convenient harness you can imagine with your own hands! Congratulations!
